The ideas of kazoos hit us during our sophomore year in high school.
One day sometime
in November of 2000, Clint, Bob, and Mike got together and started
playing the kazoo’s to a couple Toasters songs. They eventually
recorded along with the songs. The first song was really Wallstreet
Riot the song was written probably almost a year before the band even
started. There were numerous takes of the song with just kazoos. One
day we all got together including Goodman to record the song with a
keyboard and kazoo. We also had a theme song, but it was lost. After
one day of watching bad movies Bob and Daniel Goodman starting
recording random stuff on a tape recorder. Destroy the EPA then rooted
from there. Many other songs followed with Bob, Clint, Mike, and
Goodman recording through sometime in the summer of 2001. Our first
song went public January 2001.
By this time none of us were willing to record many songs, and we
were also having troubles with Clint being a member. Y2kazoo went on
hiatus while Clint and Mike started the “post-y2kazoo” band FXMS as
some of us say. Clint was basically booted from that band as well.
During December of 2002 Y2kazoo made a couple more songs
(Centipede of Doom and maybe another). Enthusiasm rose for the renewal
of the band and Daniel Gomez volunteered to join the band after some
earlier guest appearances in Megatron and Killer Tie.
So during Spring break of 2002 we did eight more songs without a
kazoo. Also this was around the time FXMS broke up. Mike never really
did come back to Y2kazoo, but is still considered a founder of our
almighty cause. This is when Daniel Gomez became a full fledged member.
Summer 2002 we had our best set of recordings a lot of which are
on the first album. Daniel Gomez brings his punk rock style into the
band causing Y2kazoo to evolve to better sounds. From there we did a
few good songs and a lot of bad songs with guest appearances by Bob’s
brother and Maury Mungia. Then Goodman was seriously thinking about
quitting the band until Gomez suggested doing a live performance.
Goodman rethought things over and decided not to leave. From spring
2003 through the end of summer 2003 we only recorded a few songs with
all of us including Coffee Shop Brawl and Eve of the Feast. Goodman did
do one song by himself in College Station during that spring
(Sudafed-Head Ted). Now Bob kidded Goodman to start a band called
“y2keyboard” if he left y2kazoo. Well Goodman decided to record 6
y2keyboard songs over the summer. Also during this time we decided to
sign onto mp3.com and release an album of about 30 songs. The band is
still continuing to do music even though we are in different cities.
Since mp3.com went down in August we re-released Kazoovolution on
Cafepress.com. Also we then released the b-sides album Immace (most of
our early stuff).
Goodman began working on the 3rd album material to be on the album
called called Yes! Yes! since Spring 2003 and will be released late
Winter or early Spring 2005. Meredith Nudo and Taylor Eckstrom have
been helping us with the cause for artwork and distribution for the 3rd
album to come. Cory Garcia also joined the band as the drumming
programmer in Feb. '05. Yes! Yes! was then released in March of 2005.
